TESTIMONIALS

"I really enjoy the atmosphere KMSS has to offer.  KMSS is a great place to learn and have fun at the same time.  The smaller firm work environment enables closer relationships with all staff."

Joel Douglas
CA student

"The office has many resources to use when in the CASB program.  The most important resource of all, are the people.  Anytime I have approached a partner for direction, I have never been turned away and have always been helped tremendously."

Polly Ann Barisoff
CA student

ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS

The biggest challenge we face as a smaller firm is convincing prospective articling students of the merits and advantages of working for an independent local firm. We truly believe we offer the very best opportunity for the ambitious, business minded student.

"I’m interested in working at KMSS, but…"

  • "…I’m concerned I won’t get any big-corporate-client experience."
Big audits are not our business. But don’t be misled. Several of our clients generate annual revenues of $30 to $80 Million.

  • "…I’ll have fewer opportunities to pursue a career in industry."
We realize public accounting isn’t for everyone and you may decide to pursue an industry career at some point in the future. The CA designation is a very marketable one, especially combined with the experience you will gain at KMSS. Your role as a business advisor will prepare you well for controllership and management positions with virtually any size of company.

  • "…I would like to pursue a work term abroad."
While we do not have a formal program in place to accommodate overseas exchanges, we are part of worldwide network of firms through DFK International. The opportunity to work in any of the 72 countries with over 254 offices represented by DFK International may be available.

  • "…I’ve heard it’s best to start at a big firm."
Our focus is on small to medium sized entrepreneurial businesses.  These types of clients provide the opportunity for students to be involved in all aspects of their business from the compliance and tax planning to management advisory.  We feel that this exposure to providing value-added services to an extensive range of different clients in different sectors results in "second to none" training and experience to all students and CAs.

  • "…big firm means big bucks.
Our policy is to remain competitive with the big firms, while maintaining a more flexible and relaxed work environment. Let us tell you more about our compensation program.
